One-handed and Two-handed Weapons
> > One-handed and Two-handed Weapons
In a recent FAQ, Paizo ruled that if a player is able to use a two-handed weapon in one hand, feats such as power attack would treat the weapon as a two-handed weapon for the purpose of calculating damage. This ruling has sparked members of the forums to reevaluate many feats and abilities with the understanding that they operate based on whether a weapon is one-handed or two-handed instead of basing it on how the weapon is used.
I disagree with Paizo on this ruling. Therefore, the affects of feats and abilities that are based on one-handed and two-handed weapons will be determined by how the weapon is used instead of the weapon’s designation in the weapon table.
In other words…
…a long sword used one-handed is a one-handed weapon.
…a long sword used two-handed is a two-handed weapon.
…a bastard sword used one-handed is a one-handed weapon.
…a bastard sword used two-handed is a two-handed weapon.
Also, a two-handed weapon cannot be used with two-weapon fighting.
