Any of the races from the Core Rulebook may be selected by players:
- Gnome (see below)
Replace the Gnome Magic racial trait with the following racial traits:
Illusion Affinity: Gnomes add +1 to the DC of any saving throw for illusion spells that they cast. Gnomes also gain a +1 bonus on saving throws against illusion spell effects.
Wild Empathy (Ex): A gnome can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The gnome rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger and druid levels, if any, and his Charisma bonus to determine the Animal empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent (base DC 15), while wild animals are usually unfriendly (base DC 20).
Gnome Rangers, Druids, Cavaliers, and Paladins also gain an additional +2 untyped bonus on Handle Animal checks involving an animal companion or mount.
